We caught up with Miles “Sonar” Burghoff on the water in Alabama this summer. He explained to us why he powers his boat and his RV with Battle Born LiFePO4 batteries, and how they help him get out there and stay out there! Check out our interview with the pro angler and fishing guide extraordinaire below.

Fishing From A Young Age

Growing up in Florida surrounded by water, Miles took naturally to fishing. As soon as he could hold up a fishing rod, he was out there. Miles loves tournament fishing because it mixes his “passion for fishing with a little competitive fire.”

He tells Battle Born, “that feeling you had out there as a kid never changes.” When you watch Miles compete as a pro angler now, you can still see that drive and adoration for the sport.

In this video, Miles discusses how he got his start in the industry, what he has learned so far, and where his famous nickname “Sonar” comes from.

A salt and freshwater fishing guide, Miles knows the power it takes to get out there and stay out there.

Two Rigs Powered by Lithium

Miles trusts and recommends Battle Born Batteries so much that he also powers his trailer with them! The reliable power means he has a consistent ride, whether on the road or out on the water.  For Miles, “it’s not just about catching fish. It’s about reliable equipment.”

Lead acid batteries weren’t providing him the peace of mind that he needed. Now Miles makes sure that everything in his system lined up perfectly so he can get out on the water and stay out there and never have to think twice about his battery power.

Miles powers his boat with three LiFePO4 Battle Born Batteries. With their lightweight build and revolutionary technology, our lithium batteries have changed how Miles views his power supply. Having lugged around heavy lead acid AGM batteries (and their backups), Miles knew Battle Born Batteries were a game changer.

Once he got a taste of life on the water without battery anxiety, he wanted to power his camper too! After installing two 100Ah 12 V Battle Born Batteries, Miles has noticed a difference in his ability to get up and go without a second thought.

Take it from Miles himself: “every single box was checked with lithium.”

What’s Next

Now that Miles has Battle Born Batteries outfitted in his boat and camper, his options are endless. Check out Sweetwater TV, which is about to start its sixth season! Miles co-hosts with fellow angler Joey Nania to share their expertise and experience.
