As overlanding quickly gains popularity in the United States, Overland Expo West has become the most anticipated overlanding event of the year. With record-breaking attendance in 2023, the 2024 Expo promises to be a weekend to remember. Overlanding experts, authors, and legends worldwide will be in Flagstaff, AZ, from May 17th to 19th. Among over 400 other exhibitors, the Battle Born Batteries booth will bring the latest overland power innovations and two incredible overland rigs. You don’t want to miss this! 

Exploring the World Off the Beaten Path with Overland Expo 

Since 2009, Overland Expo has been bringing together overlanding enthusiasts from across the globe. “Overlanding describes self-reliant adventure travel to remote destinations where the journey is the primary goal. Typically, but not exclusively, accommodated by mechanized off-highway capable transport where the principal form of lodging is camping.” Over the years, the modes of transportation for overlanding have become as diverse as the people who partake in it. From supped-up jeeps to built-out truck campers, highly capable SUVs, motorcycles, and everything in between, overlanding has come to represent vehicles of all shapes and sizes.  

At their first event, Overland Expo West brought in an impressive 900 attendees. Although RVing and Van Life remain the most popular formats for life on the road in the U.S., overlanding is picking up steam. Spurred by over a decade of technological innovation and catalyzed by the pandemic forcing everyone to find alternate ways to travel, overlanding has quickly increased in popularity in recent years. With over 300,000 attendees at Overland Expo West 2023, the largest turnout to date, this has become the most anticipated overlanding event of the year.  

“Overland Expo® is the premier overlanding event series in the world—no other event offers the scope of classes taught by the world’s leading experts alongside a professional-level trade show that brings together all the camping, vehicle, and motorcycle equipment and services you need.” Put on by the Overland Expo Foundation, this group of enthusiasts is not only passionate about overland travel but also about the protection and conservation of public lands. In addition to a significant presence at the Expos, the foundation hosts events year-round dedicated to providing “education and resources [to] facilitate a community for overland enthusiasts, businesses, and organizations around the globe.” 

What to Expect at Overland Expo West 2024 

This year, from Friday, May 17th through Sunday, May 19th, Overland Expo West will return to FT. Tuthill County Park in Flagstaff, Arizona. Beginning Thursday, overlanders from every corner of the world will flood Flagstaff. In addition to attendees taking advantage of on-site camping, over 400 exhibitors will arrive, representing businesses from the Overland, Adventure Travel, Outdoor, Camping, and Motorcycle Gear and Equipment industries. With exhibitors showcasing their products and services in booths from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm on Friday and Saturday and 9:00 am – 3:00 pm on Sunday, attendees can pack each day full of exploring the latest and greatest overland innovations. 

Over the weekend, there will be over 175 specialized classes, slideshows, demos, activities, and educational opportunities. With a combined 300 session-hours of educational content curated by over 100 different overland legends, authors, and experts worldwide, Overland Expo West will have something to teach everybody. While some of these legendary overlanders will be sharing incredible stories of their travels worldwide, others will be diving into their field of expertise. Based on feedback from previous expo attendees, Overland Expo West will feature “backcountry cooking classes, first aid training, bushcraft skills tutorials, and intro to advanced-level classes on the technology and software that many overlanders rely on to get safely from here to there and everywhere in-between.” 

While the booth exhibits close and educational sessions end at 5:00 pm on Friday and Saturday nights, Overland Expo After Dark offers even more fun and activities for those camping and staying on sight at the show. To kick off this incredible event, on Thursday, May 16th, the Welcome Happy Hour will begin at 5:00 pm, immediately followed by a kickoff dinner and live music. With an additional ticket, these events will surely be a significant highlight of your weekend. Friday night offers in-booth parties and a Film Festival showcasing jaw-dropping, overland adventures. Saturday night ends with the final Happy Hour and the  Overland Expo Foundation  Raffle. 

Explore Overlanding Innovation with Battle Born Batteries 

With hundreds of exhibitors, thousands of expected attendees, and countless booths, seminars, and activities, Overland Expo West will be a weekend you don’t want to miss! After spending years chasing the stars through his camera lens, Chase was craving a capable vehicle that would allow him to get farther off the road and off the grid than ever before. Without any luck finding one on the market, he decided to build his own out of his Lexus SUV. With various technical upgrades, a rooftop tent, and a Battle Born Batteries electrical system, Chase has spent the last couple of years exploring off-grid locations and capturing incredible views. Stop by the booth to chat with Chase and get a firsthand look inside his overland rig. 

Along with Chase, Boho Camper Vans will also be spending the weekend in our booth! This innovative camper van company started after founders David and Brett took their first van built on Shark Tank. Over the last six years, they’ve built countless camper vans that they now rent and sell to other like-minded adventurers. Each Boho Van is uniquely crafted, featuring its personality and unique components that set it apart. Regardless of your adventuring style, Boho has a van for you! Get Ready for an Epic Weekend at Overland Expo West 

Whether you’re a longtime Overland enthusiast or a newbie wanting to learn more, you don’t want to miss Overland Expo West 2024! Various ticket packages are still available for attendees. Overland Expo offers multiple Vehicle Camping Packages and a Moto Camping Package. The size of the campsite and other premium benefits vary depending on the package chosen. All attendees over the age of 15 must have their tickets. In addition to camping packages, general admission is also available for day ticket purchases!
