Frequently asked questions

How many Battle Born Batteries do I need?

The number depends on your energy usage, system voltage, and runtime goals. Most RV systems use 1–4 batteries, while larger off-grid setups may require more. Calculating daily energy consumption is the best way to size your system accurately. For help estimating your needs, see our guide to choosing the right battery size for your RV.

Can Battle Born Batteries replace lead-acid batteries directly?

In many cases, yes. Battle Born lithium batteries are designed to replace many common lead-acid battery sizes, though some systems may require charger, wiring, or other component adjustments for optimal performance. Learn more about the differences in our guide to lead-acid vs. lithium-ion batteries.

Can Battle Born Batteries be used in cold temperatures?

Yes. Battle Born LiFePO4 batteries include low-temperature protection, and we also offer heated lithium batteries for cold-weather applications. Heated models can warm the battery cells when needed so they can safely accept a charge in freezing conditions. Learn more about how heated lithium batteries work in cold weather.

How fast do lithium batteries charge?

Lithium batteries can charge significantly faster than lead-acid batteries because they can accept higher charging current and spend more of the charging cycle at that higher rate. Actual charging time depends on battery-bank capacity, available charging current, and your charging equipment. Learn more in Charging Lithium Batteries: The Basics.

Do Battle Born Batteries require maintenance?

Yes—our batteries are safe. We understand battery safety matters, especially in RV, marine, and off-grid systems where your power source may be installed close to where you live and sleep. Battle Born Batteries are built around lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄), one of the most stable lithium chemistries for deep-cycle use, and a built-in Battery Management System (BMS) that protects against the most common causes of battery failures: over/under-voltage, over-current, short circuits, and unsafe high or low temperatures.

Safety is also engineered into the pack itself. Our batteries use rugged cylindrical cells arranged in a supported layout designed to handle vibration and promote more even thermal performance in real-world mobile applications. Our enclosures also use flame-resistant, UL-recognized materials as an additional layer of protection. In addition to the BMS, our packs incorporate multiple design and manufacturing safeguards, such as properly sized internal conductors and secure internal connections, to reduce the risk of heat buildup under abnormal conditions. Many models are also validated through recognized third-party testing and safety standards, including UL and UN transportation testing; exact certifications vary by model and are listed on the product page and data sheet.

Finally, Battle Born Batteries are assembled and tested in the USA in Reno, Nevada, and backed by a U.S.-based technical support team that helps customers and installers design and maintain safe, reliable power systems.
