About the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

The Fort Lauderdale Boat Show is a five-day boating extravaganza spread over nearly 90 acres of exhibition sites and spaces. In the past, more than 100,000 people have come to check out this incredible scene, supporting more than 1,000 exhibitors in last yearโ€™s show.

With more than 1,300 boats from over 50 countries, itโ€™s also one of the best ways to get real, hands-on looks at some of the worldโ€™s most beautiful and cutting-edge seacrafts. Each of the showโ€™s exhibition sites offers a different experience. However, all offer the benefits of beautiful downtown Fort Lauderdale, often just steps from the areaโ€™s famous beaches.

When Is the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show?

This yearโ€™s Fort Lauderdale Boat Show will begin with a โ€œpreviewโ€ day on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The main show opens the following day and runs through Sunday, Oct. 30.

These dates allow boat enthusiasts to enjoy the gorgeous fall weather of southern Florida when temperatures and humidity levels have declined from the steamy summer. Visitors can stop by between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Or they can aim for 10 a.m. through 7 p.m. Thursday to Saturday and 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. on Sunday.

What Are the Locations for the Show?

Unlike some boat events, the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show offers exhibits spread out across seven different venues throughout the downtown and waterfront areas. The first cluster stretch along the Stranahan River near the Harbordale/Harbour Islands neighborhoods. Here youโ€™ll find the Broward County Convention Center, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, Pier Sixty-Six Marina, and SuperYacht Village at Pier South.

Further north, just south of the Central Beach community, attendees can find the remaining three locations. These include the Bahia Mar Yachting Center, Hall of Fame Marina, and Las Olas Marina.

All of these venues are just a few miles and minutes apart. Free shuttle service runs between them for easy access, and a moderately priced water taxi also provides transportation between events.

Culinary Experience

Unlike some festivals and shows, foodies wonโ€™t have to sacrifice to get a meal at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. Under the direction of Executive Chef Vagn Nielsen, visitors can enjoy seafood, Greek food, tacos, burgers, and so much more. Whatever youโ€™re craving, chances are you can find it. Plus, the showโ€™s upscale beverage experience includes a variety of specialty cocktails along with craft beer and wine.

Windward VIP

Looking for the ultimate experience at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show? Spring for the Windward VIP package, which offers numerous benefits for those willing to pay the $300 per person, per day price. VIPs get exclusive access to the festival an hour before the general public, as well as complimentary water taxi service between the showโ€™s venues. Theyโ€™ll also enjoy open bars, free gourmet food, and private bathrooms.

Best New Tech to Check Out at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

One of the best things to do at shows like these is to get a closer look at some of the top new technology in the boating world.

For example, exhibitor Blue Water Desalination offers consumer-level desalination machines, allowing you to turn undrinkable seawater into clean, potable drinking water. So much for โ€œwater water everywhere, nor any drop to drink!โ€ Meantime, ensure you always know where youโ€™re going with a stop at the Garmin/Fusion/Navionics booth, with the latest GPS and navigation technology.

Of course, Battle Born Batteries will also be on hand to show off the most powerful and reliable lithium battery technology. The boating industry is in the middle of a lithium revolution. Decreasing prices and improved technology have led countless boat owners to ditch their clunky, restrictive lead-acid batteries.

Boaters particularly love the lighter weight, longer lifespan, and improved operation under extreme conditions that lithium offers. Before long, theyโ€™ll be the standard for boat power. So donโ€™t forget to stop by our booth and see us!
