Overland Expo stems from a passion for the outdoors, adventures, and conservation. The idea was to create an expo that showcased conservation and responsible overland travel through training and education.ย
Roseann and Jonathan Hanson started the expo ten years ago in Prescott, Arizona. Since then, these events have become one of the most significant and unique niche overlanding events in the United States.ย
Roseann is an ecologist and writer who grew up exploring the mountains and trails of Southern Arizona. She has dedicated her life to persevering and documenting the natural world. Jonathan has dedicated his life to writing, teaching, and guiding outdoor exploration on three continents. His writing portfolio covers outdoor recreation, natural history, conservation, and travel over land and water.ย
Overland Expo is dedicated to โsupporting organizations and people,โ and many of the organization’s efforts, including The Overland Expo Foundation, prove just that. A passionate group of enthusiasts, who value the freedom of overland travel and appreciate the splendor of public lands, support The Foundation.ย
The mission of The Overland Expo Foundation is to provide unwavering support to organizations and individuals who share their passion for the great outdoors. Their efforts work towards advancing the protection of public lands and promoting the freedom to explore the natural world. The Foundation also aims to educate and foster preparedness in the community through its programs and initiatives.ย
In addition, the Overland Foundation works towards trail restoration and cleanup programs to maintain the beauty of our natural surroundings. Finally, the organization dedicates funding to travelers who positively impact our communities. By striving towards these goals, the Overland Expo Foundation is committed to creating a more conscientious community and preserving the beauty of our planet for generations to come.ย
Overland Expo is the leading event series for DIY adventure travelers and overlanders. Attendees can participate in hundreds of hours of classes catering to 4-wheel drive enthusiasts and adventure motorcyclists.ย
The Expo occurs in four regions with annual events – West, PNW, Mtn West, and East. Each event features an impressive lineup of inspirational programs, speakers, and trainers from around the globe. The expo is jam-packed with roundtable discussions, demonstrations, and culinary offerings.ย
The Overland Film Festival is another exciting highlight, as well as the expansive expo space featuring several hundred vendors offering adventure travel equipment, camping gear, bikes, vehicles, and services.ย
While each region is dedicated to a specific style of overlanding, the vast number of opportunities to learn and folks to connect with is boundless.ย
