"Be Old Later" isn't just a name, it's a philosophy.
For Candice and Jordan, it means doing the things you love while you can. There will always be reasons to wait, but the opportunity to explore, hike, travel, and make memories is happening today.
That mindset has taken them from exchanging vows on the summit of the Grand Teton to driving the Pan-American Highway, and today, to exploring the outdoors with their son, Hank. Along the way, Battle Born Batteries have helped power the freedom to travel farther, stay off-grid longer, and focus on what matters most.
Building a Life Around Adventure
Before becoming parents, Candice and Jordan converted their first camper van for an ambitious journey along the Pan-American Highway. The trip gave them the freedom to experience places they never could have from a hotel or campground.

When Hank came along, they knew they wanted to keep exploring.
Their next build, a 2000 Volkswagen LT35 Iglhaut 4x4, was designed specifically for family adventure, with more capability, more comfort, and a power system built to support extended time off-grid.

Whether they're hiking mountain trails, camping beside alpine rivers, or searching for quiet places beyond the crowds, their goal hasn't changed: spend more time outside together.
Designing an Off-Grid Power System They Can Trust
For their newest van, Candice and Jordan wanted a system that could support the way they actually travel.
That meant eliminating propane, running a fully electric setup, and having enough reliable power to stay off-grid without constantly managing their batteries.
Their system is built around 400Ah of Battle Born LiFePOâ‚„ batteries, paired with solar to provide dependable power for everyday life on the road.

From induction cooking and refrigeration to charging laptops, cameras, and other essentials, the system delivers the confidence to travel without worrying about where the next hookup is.
As Jordan puts it, "It's one of those things you just don't worry about anymore. You never worry about power."
Why Reliable Power Matters
An off-grid electrical system does more than power appliances. It gives travelers the freedom to choose destinations based on the experience, not the availability of shore power.
For the Be Old Later family, that means skipping crowded campgrounds in favor of remote mountain roads, quiet campsites, and nights surrounded by nature.

Having dependable lithium power also means one less thing to think about.
Candice explains, "To not have to worry is so huge with everything else we're doing every day ... it's one less thing to worry about."
Instead of monitoring battery levels or conserving power, they can focus on planning hikes, exploring new places, and spending time together as a family.
More Than a Van
One of the most memorable moments in their story comes when Jordan reflects on what the van really represents.
"The van, the vehicle, the power system, it's all there to get us outside with our kid, together, having fun in the outdoors and exploring the world."
That's exactly what a well-designed power system should do.
It shouldn't be the focus of the adventure, it should quietly make the adventure possible.

Be Old Later
The name says it all. Life doesn't always slow down, and there will always be another reason to postpone the trip, the hike, or the adventure.
For Candice, Jordan, and Hank, choosing to "Be Old Later" means making those memories now, and having the confidence that their Battle Born-powered electrical system will be ready for wherever the road leads next.
